A festival which year after year sets out to challenge its audience and is poised at the crossroads of art, technology and culture, where people from around the globe meet to discuss and share their visions of digital art and culture. A creative research platform and think-tank complimented by a music festival. And yet, all in all, still something else, something more.
Let’s face it, these days we really do need someone to explain to use that the financial world can still be a well-rounded affair. In the current times of continual financial crises, in which so many people have given up with keep track of current developments, strong finance-orientated blogs can be a breath of fresh air and offer some needed orientation. In this year, the best blogs will once again be awarded with the comdirect Finazblog Award 2013.
In 2012 Mark Kaigwa introduced the “Silicon Savannah”, Africa’s dynamic and innovative technology scene, to Berlin during his keynote at re:publica. Technology innovation hubs, like the iHub in Nairobi where Mark Kaigwa lives, are mushrooming around the continent and are playing a central role in the fledgling tech and entrepreurial scene in Africa.
At re:publica 2011, Gunter Dueck faced an audience which hardly knew him, yet which gave him an enthusiastic welcome. We are pleased to be able to welcome him at re:publica for a second time, asked him for a pre-event interview and received a bouquet of flowers in return.
It’s only two and a half weeks until we reach the deadline for our Call for Papers! If you want to have the chance to show-case your own session at re:publica in May 2013 then you should start making tracks.

It has been nearly seven years since re:publica began thinking about the effects and implications of digital media and technologies, and since then we have seen significant changes. Not only have we seen the ushering in of the digital society – we have the chance to be active participants in shaping and influencing its future.
